me.com email stuck Outlook 2016 outbox

Hello all,

I have multiple accounts in my outlook 2016 including a me.com address and two NMS Exchange accounts

When I try and send from me.com the email gets stuck in the outbox even though it has been working for ages previously.

Receives email fine

But when sending it pops up with a password box for smtp.mail.me.com which never happened before.

Exchange accounts work fine.

What can I do????

Just to say that this is related to iCloud Sync software and the fact that you can sync your email using it. I was using a different iCloud ID for my email compared to my photos and even if I unticked the email sync option in the iCloud software settings, I could not get my outlook to sync with the other account. I eventually removed the iCloud software and then rechecked the settings in Outlook and was able to perform a successful account settings test for the first time since installing the iCloud software.

Upon testing Outlook I find I am now able to send from my me.com account with the dreaded 'stuck in outbox' issue that was plaguing me earlier.
